Manchester University weathered an early storm from Manchester Metropolitan University in the Mancunian Varsity Battle, showing their pedigree in the latter stages to take a well-deserved 36-11 victory.

After three weeks of solid pre season Liverpool University 1st XV went into their second pre season game in good shape.

So, it is the start of October and with pre-season games, we have probably been back playing rugby for at least eight weeks. What does appear to be true is that Rugby is growing in popularity.

With the summer drawing to a close and a lot of pre-season rugby now in full swing, it is little over a month until the 2013 BUCS Rugby Competition begins.
