Glasgow Warriors have confirmed the signing of Scotland international lock Alex Craig for the 2025/26 season.
The 27-year-old second-row forward will make the move from the Scarlets to join a competitive Warriors squad looking to build on recent success in both the United Rugby Championship and Champions Cup.
Craig, who hails from Castle Douglas, expressed pride in returning to represent a club he supported as a boy:
“For me, coming back home is a massive opportunity and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in. I’m from Castle Douglas, and I’ve always kept a close eye on how Glasgow were doing as I supported the club when growing up.”
Craig began his professional career with Gloucester after graduating from Hartpury University, making 49 appearances over four and a half seasons.
In 2023, he signed with the Scarlets and made an immediate impact in the United Rugby Championship. His debut season saw him rank among the top performers in defensive stats, finishing fourth for tackles made and inside the top ten for lineout steals.
His impressive displays earned him the Players’ Player of the Season award at the Welsh club.
Internationally, Craig has earned six caps for Scotland since making his debut in the 2021 Six Nations. Most recently, he featured off the bench in Scotland’s win over Australia at Murrayfield in November 2024, reinforcing his credentials at the top level.
Head Coach Franco Smith welcomed the new addition:
“Alex is someone who we’ve been keeping an eye on for a while, consistently impressing with his performances for the Scarlets over the last couple of seasons.
"He is a dynamic carrier with ball in hand, whilst his statistics underline his physicality and willingness to work hard in defence.”
Craig joins a strong Glasgow second-row unit that includes Scotland internationals Scott Cummings, Max Williamson, and Alex Samuel.
