Ospreys have confirmed that scrum-half Harri Williams has signed a new deal to remain with the club, extending his stay after making his first-team breakthrough last season.
Harri Williams Signs New Ospreys Deal
Williams has committed his future to the Ospreys after a season that brought both injury frustration and a first senior appearance for the Welsh region.
The scrum-half picked up a difficult injury early in the campaign but worked his way back to fitness before making his debut for the club. He said the support of the medical and strength and conditioning teams had been important during his recovery.
“It was a season of mixed emotions for me. I picked up a tough injury early on in the season which was difficult, but I managed to get through that and finally make my debut for the club, which was a real privilege.”
“The medical team and S&C staff worked really hard to get me in a place to make my first appearance and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for that".
Ospreys Retain Scrum-Half Depth
Williams began his career with the Scarlets before moving to Ampthill in the English Championship. He later spent time in Australia with Tuggeranog Vikings before joining the Ospreys.
He has also represented Wales at under-20 level and played for GB Sevens, giving him experience across different formats of the game.
Mark Jones Praises Harri Williams
Ospreys head coach Mark Jones said Williams had worked extremely hard in training and showed strong character to return from injury and contribute towards the end of the season.
Jones added that retaining quality scrum-half options was important, particularly with Reuben Morgan-Williams and Kieran Hardy often involved in international duty.
“Harri worked extremely hard in training last season, so it was a real shame that he picked up the injury when he did. It says a lot about his character that he was able to get back to a place where he could contribute for us towards the end of the season.”
“With Reubs and Kieran often away on international duty, it’s important for us to a quality crop of scrum halves, and we feel we definitely have that with Luke and Harri both still a part of our playing group.”
