Western Force have announced the re-signing of Sam Carter and Tom Horton ahead of the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific season.

Carter started his professional rugby career with Brumbies in 2011 and has racked up 122 appearances for them. He also had stints with Ulster and Leicester Tigers before joining Force in 2024 season.

The 27-year-old has played five times for Force last season and featured for the Wallabies in 16 Tests between 2014 and 2017.

“It’s exciting to sign on for another year. When I joined in mid-season, I liked what I saw. I’ve enjoyed playing rugby with these players and working with the wider group," said Carter to the club's official website.

“I believe we can keep moving forward next year and really make a mark and push for finals. It’s a talented young group, great coaching staff and culture and I’m excited to rip in and play my part.

“Off-field, after re-locating from the UK, my young family and I are loving life in Perth, so we’re delighted to extend our stay.”

Meanwhile, Horton started his career with Waratahs and played for Leicester Tigers in 2022. He switched to Force in 2023 and has played 28 times for them. He started in all 14 games in the 2024 Super Rugby Pacific season.

“I’m happy with the direction of the club and excited about the new players who’ve been signed to the squad and what they can bring.

“Perth is a great city to live and I’m loving being part of the current playing group at the Force, so I’m looking forward to building on what we’ve done the last two seasons in 2025.”
