Leicester Tigers have announced that Australian Peter Hewat will join the Premiership club as attack coach ahead of the 2024/25 season.
Hewat started his professional rugby career with Waratahs in 2005 as he amassed 600 points in 50 matches including a record 243 points from 17 games during 2005 season.
Following the 2007 season, the 46-year-old joined London Irish and made 78 appearances for them scoring close to 500 points. He then played for Suntory Sungoliath before switching to a coaching role. He then joined Brumbies under Dan McKellar but Covid-19 hit season forced him to move to Japan where he coached BlackRams Tokyo.
“I’m excited to be joining Leicester Tigers," said Hewat to the club's official website.
“Having played in the Premiership previously, and having experienced the incredible atmosphere at Mattioli Woods Welford Road, I have an understanding of the history and expectations of the club and I’m determined to help achieve success here.
“This is a world-renowned team and I’m looking forward to working with Dan and the rest of the coaching group to help the team reach its goals and grow our attack.”
Leicester Tigers finished the 2023/24 season of the Gallagher Premiership at eighth place after managing nine wins from 18 matches.
