Perry Parker Joins the Titans

Rotherham Titans are delighted to confirm the arrival of second rower Perry Parker to the playing squad ahead of the 2014/15 Greene King IPA Championship season.

Twenty six years-old Parker will join up with his Titans team mates for pre-season and is sure to bring with him a wealth of experience. Perry has gained 15 caps for Edinburgh Rugby in which he has played Heineken Cup rugby and RaboDirect Pro12. Parker has just finished his season off with the Ospreys in Wales where he's been out on loan.

At 6'8” and 121kg, the powerful lock is a dynamic ball-carrier who has great pace and who is very effective in the contact area. This combined with his abilities at the set piece will make him a very welcome addition to the Titans pack.

In addition to playing for Edinburgh and Ospreys, Parker has also turned out for Esher and Worthing Raiders, with the former when at Championship level.

Titans Head Coach Lee Blackett is delighted to have Perry on board for next term, as he explained, "We've been looking hard for second row players recently and when Perry came up we moved pretty quickly to secure his services. Robin Hislop knows him very well from his time at Edinburgh and he's got a big opinion of him. Perry has experience of playing at a high level and he's sure to add quality to our pack and he'll stiffen-up competition for places within the squad.

"Perry's a tall lad and he'll have a massive impact for us with his ball carrying abilities around the park, he's quick for a big guy and he's very effective at the set piece. He's a very physical type of player and I'm positive he'll make a big impression for us next season.”

Equally thrilled with the move to Clifton Lane Perry said, "I'm looking forward to being a part of the Rotherham Titans set up, I've always enjoyed the way they play the game and I'm excited about now being able to hopefully play a big part in it. This season has been a huge success under Lee and I feel that the squad will only get stronger carrying forward into pre season and the new season ahead.

"I'm looking forward to working hard and getting a strong pre season under my belt. The Titans forwards have always been strong and I am hoping to not only add to it but help the team to become a force in the Championship and push for another fight to get into the Premiership.

"The championship is a very tough league and since the last time I played with my time at Esher I have seen it change and become a very competitive and well respected league.

"I am very close to Robin Hislop and I can't wait to play alongside him again.

"Finally I would like to thank all the staff at Edinburgh Rugby for making my time there very enjoyable. I made some very strong friendships there and I hope they will carry on growing. I would also like to thank all the staff and players at Ospreys. I have learnt a huge amount and again made some great friendships.”
