Nottingham Sign Ealing's Carey

Nottingham Rugby are pleased to announce the signing of Conor Carey from Ealing Trailfinders ahead of the 2014/15 season.

The Green and Whites have moved quickly to bolster their front row following the departures of dual registered Leicester Tigers, Ryan Bower and Harry Williams.

Carey, 22, is primarily a tight head prop but is equally adept playing at loose head.  He is a fierce scrummager but also loves to get his hands on the ball in the loose.

He began his career with Ulster where he also represented Ireland at age group level.  He then moved on to Ealing Trailfinders following their promotion to the Championship and was one of their leading lights as they narrowly missed out on survival this season.

Commenting on the move, Carey said, "I know that Nottingham has a good tradition and a clear vision of what they want to achieve next season.  They already had the core of a strong squad and the additions they've already made for next year made it an easy decision for me.

"There are clearly a close knit group of lads at the club who want to be challenging at the top end of the league.  I just want to be involved as much as I can and help the team to achieve their objectives.  I'm looking forward to getting started.”

Nottingham Head Coach Martin Haag said, "I believe we have secured a player of real quality by bringing Conor to the club.  He's young and hungry to learn but has also played a lot of games in the Championship already.  He's exactly the type of player we want to be bringing to this club and he'll add good competition to the front row for next season.”
