Australia international Rob Horne is set to make his debut in Aviva Premiership after signing a deal with Northampton Saints.

The 27-year-old will make a switch from Waratahs after making over 100 appearances for the Super Rugby club since 2008.

The 6 ft 1 in centre has featured in 33 international games for Australia after making his debut in 2010 while his last appearance came in August 2016.

Northampton Saints rugby director Jim Mallinder had high praises for Horne and believes he will be a big asset to the club.

"Rob has played at the highest level of the sport for nearly a decade and we're delighted that he has put pen to paper and agree to come to Franklin's Gardens," said Mallinder.

"He's going to be a real asset for us, both with his quality of play and his leadership experience in what is a crucial position."

Horne, who was named Wallabies vice-captain in 2016 is looking forward to his debut in English Premiership and European Rugby.

"Northampton is a club with a strong history and I look forward to being a part of that at the club," said Horne.

"I'm excited for the journey ahead and experiencing Aviva Premiership and European rugby."
