Scorecard

A powerful first half performance from Munster saw the Irish Province defeat Glasgow Warriors 38-17 in the European Champions Cup game at Thomond Park on Saturday.

This was Munster's first game after the death of their head coach Anthony Foley and the match started with a minute silence from both the teams as a mark of respect.

Fly-half Tyler Bleyendaal breached Glasgow Warriors' defence to score the first try as early as in the third minute. He also added the conversion to make it 7-0. Scotland international Finn Russell, responded back with a penalty in the ninth minute but that was the only success, Glasgow Warriors had in the first half.

A 13th minute try from Jaco Taute and a 29th minute try from Simon Zebo allowed Munster to gain a 21-point lead at half-time despite Keith Earls was red-carded for a tip-tackle by referee Jerome Garces.

The second half saw Munster upping the ante bit more and they were awarded a penalty try in the 46th minute and with Bleyendaal kicking another two-pointer, the home team took a 28-point lead.

The last 15 minutes saw Pat MacArthur (65') and Mark Benett (69') strolling across the post but the damage was already done by Munster, who capped of the game in fine style with centre Rory Scannell crossing over at the closing stage to ensure a 38-17 win. The win has taken Munster to the top of Pool 1.
