Saracens 52-7 Harlequins, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Theodor Dan and Sean Maitland scored double as Saracens scored a eight try riot as they trounced Harlequins 52-7 in the latest round of the Gallagher Premiership at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.
The victory lifts Saracens above Harlequins into second place in the table with 41 points while the Quins are at fifth position with 37 points.
Playing in front of over 61,000 spectators, Saracens made a brisk start to the game as Elliot Daly offloaded for Alex Lewington to score and Owen Farrell on his 250th appearance for the club kicked the conversion to make it 7-0. The Quins suffered a major setback as captain Stephen Lewies was sin-binned for repeated infringements in the 13th minute.
Mark McCall's men made full use of the numerical advantage as Theo Dan touched down at the back of a driving maul in the 14th minute. With the momentum on their side, Maitland, who was a late replacement for Rotimi Segun showed great pace for the first of his two tries in the 17th minute.
The bonus point for Saracens came in the 26th minute when Maitland with Daly and Lewington doing to the good work in the build up but Farrell missed out on the conversion making it 24-0 at the end of the opening half.
Saracens extended the lead early in the second half as Farrell kicked the ball into the corner allowing Dan to complete his second before the first response from the Quins came in the 50th minute as Alex Dombrandt touched down after the maul had broken down. Smith kicked the conversion making it 31-7.
Any chance of a Harlequins comeback was put off with further tries from Lucio Cinti Luna and Juan-Martin Gonzalez while the visitors lost Danny Care to yellow card. The 50 point mark was breached by the 70th minute when Gonzalez sent an inside pass for Alex Goode to dot down as Saracens completed a dominating victory.
