Massimo De Lutiis has signed a new three-year deal with Rugby Australia and the Queensland Reds, ending speculation over a possible move to one of the Irish provinces.

The 22-year-old tighthead prop had been linked with an overseas switch but will now remain in Australian rugby through to the end of 2029.

Massimo De Lutiis Signs New Rugby Australia Deal

De Lutiis is regarded as one of Australia’s emerging front-row prospects and has now committed his future to the Reds on a long-term basis.

The new deal secures his place in the Australian system after recent reports suggested Irish interest in the young prop due to his eligibility through family ties. Instead, Rugby Australia and the Reds have moved quickly to keep him in Queensland.

Irish Interest Ends With Reds Contract Extension

Reports had linked De Lutiis with interest from Irish rugby, with suggestions that provinces had explored the possibility of bringing him north.

However, no move materialised, and the prop has chosen to continue his development in Australia. The contract brings an end to the uncertainty around his short-term future and keeps him on track within the Wallabies pathway.

Queensland Reds Back Promising Tighthead Prop

De Lutiis played nine Super Rugby Pacific matches for the Reds last season before injury brought his campaign to an early end.

He has not yet featured in this year’s competition, but he remains highly rated within Australian rugby.
