Exeter Chiefs have announced that England international Luke Cowan-Dickie is set to join French club Montpellier at the end of the ongoing season.

He will now follow the likes of his England and club team-mate Exeter Chiefs Sam Simmonds to the Top 14 club.

Cowan-Dickie made his senior debut with Exeter Chiefs in 2010 and has racked up 163 appearances for the club and helped them two Premiership titles and a European triumph.

The 29-year-old has played 42 times for England apart from featuring in all the three games during the British and Irish Lions tour of South Africa in 2021.

"It's gutting to be leaving," he told the club website. "I've been at the Chiefs for 12 years and it's all I've known.

"That said, this opportunity came up and it was one that I had to think long and hard about. I spoke a lot with my family about it and it wasn't an easy decision to make in the end.

"Hopefully, I've still got plenty of years left in my career, but this is an opportunity for me to go over there and show what I am all about."

Exeter Chiefs are positioned seventh in the Gallagher Premiership table with four wins from nine matches.
