New Zealand Rugby and the Gallagher Chiefs have secured long-term continuity after All Blacks Leroy Carter and Simon Parker signed contract extensions through to the end of the 2028 season.

Leroy Carter And Simon Parker Contract Extension

Both players have recommitted to New Zealand Rugby, the Chiefs franchise and their provincial unions, Bay of Plenty and Northland respectively. The deal keeps two emerging internationals within the national pathway ahead of upcoming international cycles.

Carter, 26, transitioned from sevens to the 15-a-side format and made his All Blacks debut against South Africa, scoring a try and finishing the year with six Test caps. Parker, 25, debuted for the All Blacks against Argentina and has since earned multiple appearances in the national side.

Chiefs Super Rugby Pacific Squad Stability

The extensions strengthen the Chiefs squad planning for future Super Rugby Pacific campaigns.

Carter produced a standout season in his first full year of XVs rugby, scoring nine tries and earning the club’s rookie award. Parker has established himself as a consistent forward option since his debut with the franchise in 2020.

The players confirmed remaining with the Chiefs was a straightforward decision due to long-term development and family stability in New Zealand.

“I don’t want to play for another club, so it was a pretty easy decision. It’s a club I grew up wanting to play for, and it’s a dream come true, so I’m excited to put pen to paper pretty early-doors, and I’m looking forward to it," said Carter.

“I guess this is the sort of stage you start thinking about what’s next,” Parker said.

“You don’t want to leave it too late, obviously. So it was a bit of a no-brainer for me and my family, we’ve got our family roots planted where we are, so it’s quite nice to have some security that’s where you’re going to be for the next couple of seasons.”
