Rugby Australia and New South Wales Waratahs have jointly confirmed that Lalakai Foketi has signed a new contract until 2025.

An Australia Schoolboys representative in 2012, the 27-year-old also represented Australia Under 20 sides in the 2013 and 2014 editions of IRB Junior World Championship.

He was called up to the Australian Test squad during the home series against France in 2021 but eventually went on to make his debut for the Wallabies against Wales during the end of the year series last year. Foketi has featured in five Tests for the Wallabies until now.

The 28-year-old has been part of Waratahs since 2018 and has 68 Super Rugby caps to his name.

“I’m super stoked to stay here at the Waratahs for the next two years. Sydney is home for me and my family and there’s nowhere else we would rather be," he told.

“I feel the group we have here at the moment is yet to reach its full potential and I look forward to working hard with my teammates and the coaching staff to make that happen.

“I’ve had a small taste of Test Rugby over the past two years which has really lit a fire inside me to earn more opportunities at that level and I know I’ll need to continue to work hard to make that happen.”
