Harlequins have confirmed that former England international Joe Launchbury is among three senior players to sign new contracts with the club ahead of the upcoming season.
Joining him in extending their stay at The Stoop are hooker Jack Musk and loosehead prop Jordan Els.
Launchbury, 34, joined Harlequins in 2023 from Japanese side Toyota Verblitz following the collapse of Wasps, where he spent over a decade.
Since his arrival in London, Launchbury has made 42 appearances across all competitions and become a steadying presence within the squad. With 70 international caps and a Rugby World Cup final appearance in 2019 to his name, his experience remains a valuable asset.
“We’ve got an incredibly determined group of players and staff at the club and so much potential in this group,” Launchbury said.
“I am excited to be a part of that journey, helping the squad in any way I can. I look forward to playing in front of our amazing fans again next season at The Stoop.”
Head coach Danny Wilson praised Launchbury’s impact, both on and off the field:
“Joe has a wealth of experience at the elite level of the game, which is invaluable in any team environment. He’ll continue to serve as a great mentor to our younger players.”
Also extending his stay is Jack Musk, 25, who came through the Harlequins academy and debuted for the senior side in 2019.
Despite limited first-team opportunities in recent seasons, Musk has impressed with his determination and has scored three tries in this year’s Premiership Rugby Cup. He spent the majority of the past two seasons gaining experience on loan with London Scottish.
“Jack has demonstrated a fantastic work ethic and a drive to improve himself and those around him,” said Wilson. “When he’s had his opportunity, he’s performed well and we’re looking forward to his continued development.”
South African prop Jordan Els, 27, has also committed his future to the club.
Having joined Quins from Ealing Trailfinders in 2019, he has played 48 times in all competitions. Used predominantly as an impact player this season, 11 of his 14 appearances have come off the bench.
“I’ve loved my time at Quins so far and I’m excited to be extending my contract,” said Els.
“This is a really ambitious group of players and coaches, and I know that there is a real desire to achieve something special in the years to come.”
