Western Force 17-17 Hurricanes, HBF Park, Perth
In a gripping Round 10 Super Rugby Pacific clash, the Hurricanes and Western Force could not be separated after 80 minutes — or even after extra time — as the match ended in a 17–17 draw at HBF Park in Perth.
The match was full of swings, missed opportunities, and dramatic late moments, with both sides leaving points on the table in a rare result for modern Super Rugby.
The Hurricanes were the first to cross the whitewash in the 11th minute, with Fatafehi Fineanganofo breaking through to open the scoring. However, the Western Force quickly countered. In the 15th minute, Bayley Kuenzle found space and dotted down under the posts, with Ben Donaldson adding the extras to take a 7–5 lead.
Just before halftime, the Force struck again. Mac Grealy finished off a well-constructed passage in the 39th minute, and Donaldson slotted the conversion to give the hosts a 14–5 lead at the break.
The Hurricanes started the second half with renewed energy. Callum Harkin scored in the 48th minute, and converted his own try to reduce the margin to 14–12.
The visitors continued to press and were rewarded in the 63rd minute when Fineanganofo crossed for his second try of the night. Harkin's conversion attempt missed, but the Hurricanes had edged in front 17–14.
As the clock ticked down, it looked like the Hurricanes might hold on, but in the 79th minute, the Force earned a penalty and Ben Donaldson calmly slotted it to tie the scores at 17–17, forcing the match into Super Point extra time.
The Super Point period brought more drama. Donaldson had a shot at glory with a 51-meter penalty, which fell short. He followed that with a drop goal attempt, but it was charged down.
At the other end, Ruben Love came agonizingly close for the Hurricanes, his drop goal bouncing off the upright.
With no score in extra time, the match concluded as a draw — the first in Super Rugby since 2020.
