Gareth Thomas to miss initial weeks of new season for Ospreys

Ospreys prop Gareth Thomas will miss the initial weeks of the upcoming season following a shoulder injury.

The 24-year-old will now undergo a surgery on his shoulder and is expected to return to action in October.

Thomas joined Ospreys in 2014 from Scarlets and has represented Carmarthen Quins and Llanelli RFC in the past.

Ospreys finished fifth in Conference A with nine wins from 21 games in the previous season of Pro 14.
