The Fijian Drua have secured the futures of promising backs Joji Nasova and Maika Tuitubou, with both players extending their contracts through to the 2028 Super Rugby Pacific season after breaking into the senior side in 2026.
Joji Nasova extends Fijian Drua contract
Nasova made an immediate impact after transitioning from international sevens to Super Rugby Pacific. The powerful outside back made his Drua debut against the Hurricanes at Churchill Park in Lautoka during Round 3 and has since made five appearances for the club.
The Ba-born flyer entered the 2026 campaign having already represented the Flying Fijians, scoring four tries across his first three Test appearances.
Nasova said he was grateful for another opportunity to represent the Drua and highlighted the significance of playing in front of his family and supporters in Fiji.
“Humbled to be given another opportunity to play in Super Rugby and to wear the Drua jersey again. The feeling of playing in front of family and especially in my own hometown of Ba is unbeatable,” Nasova said.
“I am also looking forward to working with Coach Brad and his team and the new players joining us soon".
Maika Tuitubou continues Drua development
Tuitubou also stepped up to Super Rugby Pacific in 2026, making his debut against the Chiefs in Christchurch.
The former Swami Vivekananda College student started at outside centre alongside experienced midfielder Virimi Vakatawa and went on to make three appearances during his debut campaign.
Tuitubou said the new contract would provide another opportunity to develop alongside experienced players and the Drua’s coaching group.
“I am very excited that the Drua gave me another opportunity and I am looking forward to learning new things with the experienced players and new coaching team," he said.
“I also want to thank my parents for supporting me and helping me along the way to achieve my dreams to be a professional rugby player".
Drua duo impress in Queensland Hospital Cup
Following the Super Rugby Pacific season, both players continued their development with Wests Bulldogs in Queensland’s Hospital Cup.
Tuitubou scored two tries in Wests’ 36-19 semi-final victory over Easts as the Bulldogs reached the Grand Final, while Nasova’s performances earned him a recall to the Flying Fijians squad for the Pacific Nations Cup.
Nasova was subsequently unavailable for international selection because of a hand injury but is expected to return in time for the Drua’s pre-season preparations in November.
