Glasgow Warriors have confirmed that Fiji international Leone Nakarawa has signed a contract extension that will keep him with the Pro14 club until the end of June 2021.

Nakarawa started his career with Glasgow in 2013 and switched to Racing 92 in 2016 before heading back to Scotstoun for a second stint in 2020. He went on to win the player of the match award during Glasgow's victorious 2015 Pro12 final and was named European Player of the 2017/18 season when he was with Racing 92.

The 32-year-old has featured in two Pro14 games and a Champions Cup encounter this season for Glasgow before it was suspended by the pandemic coronavirus.

“Leone is a world-class rugby player and a really exciting addition to the Warriors squad for next season. His reputation as an attacking threat goes before him and as a coach I know from experience how difficult he is to prepare against," said Wilson to the official website of the club.

“Leone offers expertise and experience in a variety of positions in the pack and I know how popular he is with players and supporters. I’m looking forward to working with him as we move forward into the new season and conclude the 2019/20 season.”

Nakarawa has played 62 Tests for Fiji since his debut in 2009 and has scored 13 international tries. He has also represented them in the 2011, 2015 and 2019 World Cups.
