Bath Rugby centre Jonathan Joseph is a doubtful starter for England's upcoming tour of South Africa following an ankle injury,

The 26-year-old sustained the blow during the 28th minute in the recently concluded Aviva Premiership game against Saracens where he was tackled by Schalk Burger and was forced off the field.

Bath director of rugby Todd Blackadder confirmed that Joseph will be assessed in the coming days and is hopeful that the injury isn't serious.

"Jonathan looks like he's given his ankle a really good tweak," he said.

"We're not sure how long he'll be out for but he's got next week off anyway. Hopefully it won't be too serious."

The three-match Test series between England and South Africa will be played between 9th and 23rd June with Johannesburg, Bloemfontein and Cape Town being the venues.

Bath are currently positioned eighth in the Aviva Premiership with nine wins and 11 defeats from 20 games this season.
