Glasgow Warriors have announced that Scotland fly-half Duncan Weir has signed a new deal until the summer of 2026.

A product of Cambuslang RFC, Weir made his senior debut with Glasgow in 2010 before switching to Edinburgh in 2016. He also had a stint with Worcester Warriors before rejoining Glasgow in 2021.

The 33-year-old has racked up 149 appearances for the Warriors across two stints has made 14 appearances this season.

“This club was my boyhood club, and it’s a privilege every time I’m asked to pull on the shirt,” Weir told glasgowwarriors.org.

“I’ve really enjoyed being a part of this group this season and being more involved in the matchday squads, and I want to keep driving this team forwards and towards the top of the standings. We want to keep pushing for silverware and I’m looking forward to trying to achieve that at Scotstoun.

“There’s maybe a few more eyes on you when you get to my age – everyone’s trying to see if you’re slowing down! That definitely gives me a bit of a chip in my shoulder that I use to try keep up with the young bucks!

"Being one of the older heads is a role I enjoy, though – I know I’ve got a lot of experience over my 14 years of professional rugby and I want to share that to help those around me develop".

Glasgow Warriors head coach Franco Smith had high praises for Weir.

"Duncan has been an excellent servant to this club, and he acts as an outstanding mentor to our young players," said Smith.

"We value the experience he brings to our environment, and we believe that it is important to pass this experience on to the next generation.

"He has an important role to play within our squad that Duncan understands, and it’s exciting to have him involved with our group, both as a player and as an influence on our younger players coming through."
