Fijian Drua 25-20 Hurricanes, Lautoka
The Fijian Drua secured their first win of the 2026 Super Rugby Pacific season with a 25-20 victory over the Hurricanes in torrential conditions in Lautoka.
On a rain-soaked surface that turned muddy as the match wore on, the hosts showed composure and resilience to edge a tight contest. Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula started the proceedings with a three-pointer to begin the proceedings for Drua.
Hurricanes strike first
The visitors made the brighter start, turning down an early penalty to attack from close range. New fly-half Callum Harkin delivered a sharp cut-out pass to Fehi Fineanganofo, who crossed for the opening try. The Hurricanes extended their advantage when Peter Lakai finished at the back of a rolling maul to make it 3-10.
The Drua responded through the boot of Armstrong-Ravula, who slotted a three pointer at the end of the first half to keep the scoreboard ticking. Flanker Motikiai Murray then powered over from close range to level the scores midway through the half.
However, a handling error from the restart allowed Billy Proctor to score for the Hurricanes after good work in midfield, and the visitors took a 17-13 lead into the break.
Drua take control late
The Hurricanes pushed their lead to seven early in the second half before the momentum shifted. Tuidraki Samusamuvodre intercepted a pass to race away and bring the home crowd to life as the scores were level once more after a penalty kick from Jordie Barrett.
With conditions improving slightly, both teams searched for the decisive score. It arrived when replacement prop Peni Ravai produced a clever offload to send Etonia Waqa over in the corner, giving the Drua a five-point advantage.
The Hurricanes pressed in the final minutes but were denied by strong Drua defence and handling errors. A final attack broke down near halfway, sealing a deserved 25-20 win for the hosts.
