Australia flanker David Pocock is all set to return from injury after he was named in the starting line-up for the Brumbies in the upcoming Super Rugby quarter-final against the Highlanders at GIO Stadium on Friday.

The 28-year-old sustained a fractured eye socket during the first Test against England in Brisbane and was eventually ruled out of the remaining two games in the series which Australia lost 3-0 to Eddie Jones' men.

After returning to training a couple of weeks back, Brumbies have named Pocock in their line-up at openside flanker seeking revenge to their group stage defeat to Highlanders at Rugby Park earlier in the tournament.

Pocock's teammate Matt Toomua believes the addition of the 56-capped Australian star will benefit Brumbies ahead of the crucial game against the Highlanders.

"To have him in these big games and hopefully slow up their ball will be brilliant," he said.

"They like to play that really fast footy and with a guy like him either stealing the ball or slowing it down definitely plays into our hands."

The last time the two teams met, Highlanders did well to counter Pocock and Toomua believes he will once again be the focus on Friday.

"I'm sure they'll be focusing on him heavily - as you would," Toomua added.

"But that can provide opportunities for other guys. We've got more guys than just Dave, but in saying that, to have him back in such a great game is always a good thing."

Wallabies lock Rory Arnold has failed to recover from elbow injury while Shane Christie makes a comeback.
