Hurricanes 45-12 Brumbies

The Hurricanes produced a dominant performance to defeat the ACT Brumbies 45-12 in a Super Rugby Pacific Super Round clash, climbing to the top of the table with a bonus-point win.

The result was built on a devastating first half, where the Hurricanes punished repeated Brumbies errors to take full control of the contest.

The Brumbies struggled from the outset, with poor kicking, handling mistakes and defensive lapses leaving them with too much to recover. By halftime, the damage had already been done.

Hurricanes Punish Early Brumbies Errors

The Hurricanes made the most of early pressure, with winger Fehi Fineanganofo proving unstoppable in the first half. He scored a hat-trick before the break, capitalising on Brumbies mistakes and sharp attacking play led by Ruben Love.

The Brumbies’ problems were largely self-inflicted. Declan Meredith twice kicked the ball dead from penalties, while Tom Wright, Ryan Lonergan and Andy Muirhead also failed to find touch, repeatedly handing possession back to the Hurricanes.

Those errors, combined with poor defence and lineout issues, allowed the Hurricanes to build a commanding lead. Fineanganofo’s third try, which followed consecutive Brumbies knock-ons, helped push the score to 19-0 at halftime.

Brumbies Show Brief Fightback

The Brumbies made changes at the break, with Blake Schoupp and Tane Edmed introduced, and they showed some improvement early in the second half.

Their first try came when Corey Toole produced a clever flick pass while going into touch to find David Feliuai, who crossed to get the Brumbies on the board.

But any momentum was short-lived. The Hurricanes responded quickly, keeping the ball alive before Josh Moorby finished out wide to restore their dominance.

Fineanganofo Stars With Four Tries

Fineanganofo continued his outstanding performance by scoring his fourth try of the match. He reacted quickest to a loose ball after a Brumbies passing error and raced over to extend the lead further.

The Hurricanes maintained control throughout, while the Brumbies struggled to build sustained pressure. Toby Macpherson thought he had a try for the visitors, but it was ruled out after a review showed a knock-on in the act of grounding.

Hurricanes Finish Strong

Toole did manage a late try with a strong individual effort, but it was only a brief highlight for the Brumbies.

The Hurricanes closed out the match with two further tries, underlining their dominance and sealing a comprehensive 45-12 victory.
