Joe Tomane's career at Brumbies came to an abrupt end after sustaining a leg injury in Canberra club rugby on Saturday.

The new development has also put a doubt on his participation for the Wallabies in this year's Rugby Championship.
The 26-year-old winger has been ruled out for up to eight weeks following the fracture on his leg during his comeback with Canberra club rugby.

The Brumbies star, who has signed with French side Montpellier for next year, released an emotional statement confirming the news.

“This is a tough pill to swallow, there’s no doubt.

“Unfortunately these things happen in rugby and I won’t get to farewell everyone the way I would’ve liked, but that’s how it goes sometimes.

“The Brumbies mean the world to me and I’ll now get to join our fans in cheering the boys on for the rest of the season."

Brumbies presently are at the top of the Australian Conference with the final stage of round-robin games scheduled to be played on the coming weekend. Tomane has expressed his confidence in the club to win this season's Super Rugby title.

“I still believe this team has what it takes to win the title this year, and I’ll be doing everything I can to help out the players, in whatever way I can.

“I cannot speak highly enough of how much I admire the players I have played alongside over the past five years.”

Tomane was hoping to make a comeback for the Brumbies finals campaign after a run in club rugby last weekend, however, in the second half he took a low tackle just below his injured knee. The scans later revealed two fractures in his tibia, putting him out of action for a next eight weeks.
