Munster Rugby and the Irish Rugby Football Union have confirmed that second-row forward Conor Ryan has signed a new two-year contract extension that will keep him at the province until 2028.
Conor Ryan Signs New Munster Contract
Ryan, 22, has come through a non-traditional route into the senior Munster setup. The Clonakilty native played his underage rugby with Clonakilty RFC before progressing through UCC RFC in the All-Ireland League.
His steady progress has now been rewarded with a longer-term commitment from Munster and the IRFU.
The second row signed his first Munster contract in 2025 and has continued to build momentum since then.
Conor Ryan Pathway From Clonakilty To Munster
Ryan won a South Munster Under-18 league title with Clonakilty in 2022 before stepping into adult rugby at a young age. He later made his All-Ireland League debut for UCC and continued to progress through Munster’s development structures.
His rise included appearances for Munster A and senior involvement in pre-season and representative fixtures.
He earned his first senior Munster cap against Argentina XV at Thomond Park in November and has also featured for Munster A this season while continuing to play for UCC.
“Conor follows John Hodnett in coming through at Clonakilty RFC and UCC RFC over recent years and shows the great work being done at both clubs," said Academy & Pathway Manager Gar Prendergast.
“Our clubs are massively important for player development and this is reflected in Munster consistently releasing the most players to play in the AIL each week."
