Exeter Chiefs winger Campbell Ridl has been suspended for two matches following a disciplinary review arising from last weekend’s Gallagher Premiership fixture.

The incident occurred during Exeter’s round nine clash against Bath Rugby at the Recreation Ground, where Ridl received a 20-minute red card shown by referee Luke Pearce. The sanction followed a collision with England international Henry Arundell.

Ridl was cited for tackling or making contact with a player in the air, an offence that breaches World Rugby Law 9.17, which is designed to protect players from dangerous challenges while airborne. The matter was reviewed on papers by sole judicial officer Charles Cuthbert.

The Exeter back accepted the charge at the first opportunity, and the panel determined that a two-match suspension was the appropriate sanction based on the nature of the offence and the applicable disciplinary guidelines.

As a result of the ban, Ridl will miss Exeter’s upcoming fixtures against Stade Français Paris and Cardiff Rugby. He will be eligible to return once the suspension has been served, subject to selection.
