Adam Brocklebank will remain with Newcastle Red Bulls for at least another season with the club activating an option to extend the contract
The 30-year-old has been a long-serving figure at Kingston Park, making 157 appearances since joining the club more than a decade ago.
Brocklebank initially moved to the North East to study at Durham University and has since established himself as a regular presence in Newcastle’s front row.
Speaking after the extension was confirmed, Brocklebank said Newcastle has become home for him and his family, adding that the club’s current direction made the decision straightforward.
“Newcastle is the place I call home now, and I’m delighted to be extending my stay.
“My family and I are settled, Newcastle Red Bulls are making real progress and I’m chasing 200 appearances for the club, so it was never a case of wanting to move.
“Everything around the club is exciting at the moment and I’m sure any player would want to be part of it, so I’m just looking forward continuing that progress.”
Sporting general manager Neil McIlroy praised Brocklebank’s professionalism and long-term commitment, describing him as a respected figure within the squad.
“Adam has been a firm fixture in our pack for a number of years now, and is fully committed to being part of our ongoing programme of improvement.
“He is well respected within the group, he is very professional in how he goes about his business and it’s great that our exciting plans for the future can include guys who have given so much to this club over the previous decade.”
