Alex Goode, one of Saracens' most iconic players, has announced he will retire at the end of the 2024/25 season.

The 37-year-old full-back has spent his entire professional career with the North London club, amassing over 400 appearances in a remarkable 23-season journey.

Goode’s list of achievements is extensive. He helped the club win six Premiership titles and three European Champions Cups. Individually, he was named Premiership Player of the Season in 2015/16 and European Player of the Year in 2019.

His consistent performances also earned him 21 England caps, including appearances at the Six Nations and the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Reflecting on his retirement, Goode expressed immense gratitude for his time at Saracens:

"Nothing prepares you for this moment, it’s overwhelming. The emotions; gratitude, pride, sadness. After 19 incredible seasons wearing the Saracens jersey, I am saying goodbye.

Saracens has been home for my whole adult life and helped me grow as a person. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d have the privilege of playing for my country and representing this club over 400 times."

He thanked the club’s owners, coaches, staff, teammates, and supporters, describing his career as a gift filled with friendship, challenges, victories, and unforgettable moments.

"I leave the field with no regrets, only gratitude. Saracens will always be in my blood. Although I’ll no longer be lacing up my boots, I’ll forever be cheering from the stands, heart still beating for this club!"

The club’s Director of Rugby acknowledged Goode’s extraordinary contributions, stating that his impact on both Saracens and the sport is impossible to overstate.

He praised Goode’s selfless nature, his mentorship of younger players, and his unmatched dedication to the team.
