Leicester Tigers have confirmed that Wales international backrower Aaron Wainwright will join the club ahead of the 2026-27 season.
The 28-year-old will move to the Premiership from Welsh side Dragons, marking his first club spell outside Wales.
Wainwright has been a long-serving figure at Dragons, where he made his senior debut in 2017 and has gone on to record more than 120 appearances for the region.
At international level, Wainwright made his Wales debut in 2018 and has since earned over 60 caps. He was part of the Wales squad that secured a Six Nations Grand Slam and has represented his country at two Rugby World Cup tournaments. His experience at the highest level is expected to add depth and competition to Leicester’s backrow options.
Leicester head coach Geoff Parling said the club was excited to bring in a player with Wainwright’s consistency and character, noting his proven performances for both club and country and his desire to continue developing his game.
"I'm really excited for Aaron to join from next season," he told the club's official website.
“He's an outstanding backrower that has shown that he can consistently perform for both club and country."
"He comes with great character references and wants to improve his game. We look forward to him adding value to our squad and showing what he can do in a Leicester shirt."
Wainwright said he was eager to begin a new chapter at Leicester, describing the move as an exciting opportunity to join a club with a strong history and passionate support.
“I’m really excited. When you look at the long history of success that the club has had, to be able to come into that and hopefully contribute going forward is what I can’t wait to do.”
