Worcester Warriors 35-3 Sale Sharks

Worcester Warriors kick-started their Premiership Rugby Cup campaign with a convincing 35-3 bonus point win over Sale Sharks in their Pool 2 clash.

The win has taken Worcester to the top of the table with five points while Sale Sharks languish at the bottom of the table.

The competition that was replacement for Anglo-Welsh saw the Premiership teams split into three groups of four teams each.

The Warriors had amassed three tries in the first half with Josh Adams (5'), Francois Hougaard (27') and Francois Venter (32') all dotting down while Duncan Weir slotted the extras on all the three occasions as they raced to a 21 point lead.

Sale Sharks' only response before the break came through a penalty goal Kieran Wilkinson in the 16th minute and that remained their only points in the game as they struggled to make an impact.

Sale winger Paolo Odogwu was sin-binned in the 42nd minute and even though the hosts did not add any point in the next 10 minutes, Pierce Phillips (54') further extended their lead with the bonus point try.

Despite, sin-bins from Gareth Milasinovich and Matt Cox in the 67th and 80th minutes respectively, Matti Williams slotted the fifth try for the side to complete a 35-3 win for the Warriors.
