Wasps have announced that prop Biyi Alo has signed a contract extension with the Gallagher Premiership club.

A graduate of Loughborough University, Alo joined Saracens Academy and went on to make his first-team appearance for the club in 2014 before making a switch to Worcester Warriors in 2016.

Having made 30 appearances for the Warriors, the 27-year-old joined Wasps initially as injury cover from Coventry Rugby during the 2018/19 campaign before signing a permanent contract in 2019. He has already featured for Wasps 14 times this season.

“I am really happy to have extended my time at Wasps. I really enjoy working with all the players and coaches to get better every day, it is a great environment to be a part of," he told the club's official website.

“I would like to say a big thank you to all the fans for their fantastic support this season at Coventry Building Society Arena.

“I am looking forward to seeing what the future holds for me in Black and Gold.”

Wasps Men’s Head Coach Lee Blackett is delighted with Alo extending his stay with the club.

“We are buzzing that Biyi has agreed to extend his contract with us.

“Biyi has put in some phenomenal performances this season, to cement his place as a regular at tighthead for us. This new contract is a great reward for all the hard effort he has put in to do that.

“Biyi’s personality is infectious, I can’t do anything other than smile when I see him, he’s a great character.

“We are looking forward to seeing him continue to develop in Black and Gold over the coming seasons.”

Wasps are positioned 8th in the Gallagher Premiership table with eight wins from 17 games and will take on Northampton Saints next in the 20th round on 13th March.
