Exeter Chiefs winger Immanuel Feyi-Waboso is set to undergo a scan after suffering a hamstring problem during Sunday’s 34-28 Gallagher PREM victory over Newcastle Red Bulls at Sandy Park.

Feyi-Waboso suffers hamstring concern

The 23-year-old England international left the field early in the second half after appearing to experience discomfort in his hamstring.

Exeter director of rugby Rob Baxter said the substitution had not been planned, but expressed hope that the problem was not a significant strain.

“It wasn’t planned,” Baxter said. “He feels like he’s overloaded his hamstring a little bit; I don’t think it’s catastrophic or been a proper twang.”

Baxter added that Feyi-Waboso had continued playing after first reporting the issue before eventually being withdrawn.

Exeter await scan results

“He carried on after he first reported it; he did a kick-chase, came up with the ball at full speed and chased back, but he just doesn’t feel right,” Baxter said.

“I expect that’ll get scanned and we’ll assess it over the week.”

The concern comes after Feyi-Waboso missed the 2026 Six Nations with a hamstring injury suffered while training with England. He had also endured a lengthy absence in 2025 following shoulder surgery.

Chiefs face demanding October schedule

Feyi-Waboso’s availability will be closely monitored with Exeter preparing for a demanding run of fixtures.

Chiefs travel to face Toulouse in the Investec Champions Cup on October 18 before returning to PREM action away to Bristol Bears on October 24 and at home to Harlequins on October 31.
