Gloucester Rugby 25-25 Wasps, Kingsholm
Scorecard
Jimmy Gopperth held his nerve in kicking a last-minute conversion as Wasps came from behind to draw the Aviva Premiership encounter against Gloucester Rugby 25-25 at Kingsholm on Saturday.
Billy Twelvetrees started the proceedings with a sixth-minute penalty that took Gloucester to a three-point lead which soon became 13-0 after Richard Hibbard crossed over in the 16th minute followed by a conversion and a penalty from Twelvetrees.
Wasps finally managed to respond with back to back penalties from Gopperth but an offload from Jason Woodward sent Charlie Sharples over the line with five minutes to go before the break to hand an 18-6 lead to the home side.
Gloucester though suffered a setback in the second half when Paddy McAllister was sin-binned a minute after he came on for loose-head prop Josh Hohneck when referee Karl Dickson had enough of persistent scrum offences.
Wasps made full use of the numerical advantage with Dan Robson diving past the line to make it 18-13 and by the end of the 67th minute, the scores were levelled 18-18 with Thomas Young scoring their second try though the conversion was missed.
The eventful final quarter continued with winger Henry Trinder once again putting Gloucester on top with a 71st minute try that was improved by Twelvetrees but Wasps were unwilling to relent under pressure as Christian Wade scored the decisive try in the final minute and Gopperth slotted the crucial conversion to help Dai Young's men draw the game 25-25.
