Saracens number eight Tom Willis has been named Gallagher Prem Player of the Season for 2025/26 ahead of his move to Bordeaux.

The 27-year-old won the award after a standout campaign in which he led the league for carries, defenders beaten and offloads.

Tom Willis Named Gallagher Prem Player Of The Season

Willis topped a vote by players across the league after an impressive season at StoneX Stadium. His ball-carrying power, tackle-breaking ability and defensive physicality made him one of the most influential forwards in the competition.

Saracens narrowly missed out on the play-offs after being denied by Exeter on the final day of the regular season, but Willis’ individual performances remained among the strongest in the league.

Saracens Forward Set For Bordeaux Move

Willis is due to join Bordeaux for a second spell from next season. His move to France will make him unavailable for England selection under current eligibility rules.

The back-row forward had informed England head coach Steve Borthwick of the move in October. Borthwick later chose to focus on players expected to remain available for the 2027 Rugby World Cup cycle, leaving Willis out of the autumn and Six Nations squads.

Saracens Complete Awards Double

Saracens also celebrated success through Noah Caluori, with the 19-year-old winger named Breakthrough Player of the Season. Caluori also finished as the league’s top try scorer with 18 tries.

Northampton Saints director of rugby Phil Dowson won the Director of Rugby award after guiding Saints to first place at the end of the regular season.

Tom James won the Gallagher PREM Community Player of the Season award, while Josh Kemeny’s try against Sale Sharks in Round 7 was voted Try of the Season. Kemeny secured 67 percent of the public vote.

PWR And England Rugby Winners Confirmed

In the women’s game, Olivia Apps of Saracens was named PWR Player of the Season, while Loughborough Lightning’s Haineala Lutui won PWR Breakthrough Player of the Season. Barney Maddison of Trailfinders Women was named PWR Director of Rugby of the Season.

The PWR top try scorer award was shared by May Campbell, Rhona Lloyd, Mia Venner and Bo Westcombe-Evans, who each scored 12 tries.

England Rugby honours went to Joe Heyes of Leicester Tigers as England Men’s Player of the Season and Zoe Harrison of Saracens as England Women’s Player of the Season. Lewis Moody received the RPA Blyth Spirit Award.
