Saracens 19-15 Leicester Tigers, StoneX Stadium

Saracens returned to StoneX Stadium with a crucial 19-15 victory over Leicester Tigers, keeping their Gallagher PREM play-off hopes alive in front of a packed North London crowd.

It was not the free-scoring display Saracens produced a week earlier, but it was a tough, disciplined and important win against a Leicester side who pushed them all the way.

The match was tight throughout, with the sides level at halftime before Saracens edged ahead after the break and defended strongly in the closing stages.

Hartley Gives Saracens Fast Start

Saracens made the perfect start and scored inside the opening two minutes. After kicking a penalty to the corner, the hosts were initially held up by Leicester’s defence, but Charlie Bracken spotted space around the fringes and offloaded to Olly Hartley.

Hartley broke through from outside the 22 and beat several defenders before scoring under the posts. The conversion gave Saracens an early 7-0 lead.

Leicester responded quickly after Saracens discipline gave them field position. The Tigers worked through several close-range carries before Billy Searle sent Freddie Steward over from short range. The conversion brought the visitors level.

Caluori Strikes Before Tigers Reply

The momentum swung back towards Saracens when Izaia Perese was shown a yellow card. The hosts used the extra space well, and Noah Caluori continued his impressive scoring form by chasing and collecting a clever kick to score.

Leicester replied around the half-hour mark after Olly Cracknell’s break put them deep inside Saracens territory. Orlando Bailey then shifted the ball wide to Olly Hassell-Collins, who finished in the corner.

Searle had a chance to put Leicester ahead before halftime, but his penalty drifted wide, leaving the match level at 12-12 at the break.

Mawi Puts Saracens Back In Front

Leicester made a strong start to the second half and almost scored through Joaquin Moro, only for Rotimi Segun to make an important try-saving tackle.

Saracens then regained the lead after pressure from their forwards. Jamie George was held up near the line, but from the next phase Eroni Mawi forced his way over. After a review, the try was awarded and Saracens moved back in front.

Leicester stayed in the contest and cut the gap when Searle kicked a penalty after Saracens were reduced to 14 men, with Caluori shown a yellow card.

Saracens Hold Firm Late

The closing stages became tense when Juan Martin Cinti was also sent to the sin bin for a deliberate knock-on, leaving Saracens under pressure.

Leicester pushed hard for a late winning score, but Saracens held their nerve. A crucial turnover in the final moments allowed the hosts to clear the ball into the stands and seal a vital 19-15 win.
