Crusaders prop Tamaiti Williams has been suspended for three matches following a disciplinary ruling after an incident in Super Rugby Pacific Round 3 against the Chiefs.

Tamaiti Williams Super Rugby Suspension

Williams was cited for an incident in the 15th minute of the match at FMG Stadium Waikato. A Foul Play Review Committee determined that the prop entered a ruck and made direct shoulder contact with an opponent’s head, with no mitigating factors identified.

The offence was assessed at a mid-range entry point, carrying a six-week sanction under disciplinary guidelines.

FPRC Decision And Sanction Reduction

After accepting the ruling, Williams received the maximum available 50 per cent reduction due to his prior clean disciplinary record and acknowledgment of the offence. This reduced the sanction to three matches.

Williams has also opted to participate in World Rugby’s Coaching Intervention Programme. Successful completion of the programme would substitute one week of the suspension.

Matches Tamaiti Williams Will Miss

As it stands, Williams will miss the Crusaders’ fixtures against the Blues and Highlanders. His availability for the match against Moana Pasifika will depend on successfully completing the intervention programme.
