Ireland skipper Rory Best will be sidelined for up to six weeks following a hamstring injury.

The 35-year-old suffered the blow during the training last week and will miss Ulster's next three Pro 14 games against Dragons, Zebre and Connacht and is also likely to sit out for the opening two games in the European Champions Cup against Wasps and La Rochelle.

A statement released by the Irish regional club confirmed that Best underwent a scan that revealed a "hamstring tear".

"Following a scan, it has been confirmed that Rory Best has a hamstring tear and will be out of action for approximately four to six weeks," Ulster said in a statement.

Ireland's autumn international fixtures will kick-off on 11th November that includes games against South Africa, Fiji and Argentina at Lansdowne Road.

Ulster are currently second in Conference B after winning all the three games in the ongoing season of Pro 14.
