RG Snyman will remain at Leinster for another season after agreeing to a one-year contract extension.

The South African lock, a two-time Rugby World Cup winner, has become a fan favourite since arriving from Munster last summer and will now continue his journey in Dublin into the 2025/26 season.

The decision to extend Snyman’s stay was approved by the IRFU, who determined that his presence in the squad would not hinder the development or game time of Leinster’s emerging second-row talents.

His impact since switching provinces has been undeniable, with 14 appearances and four tries across the BKT United Rugby Championship and Investec Champions Cup.

Snyman’s current contract reportedly includes specific stipulations regarding his availability for selection. So far, he has featured as a replacement in all four of Leinster’s Champions Cup pool matches, offering the squad considerable depth and experience off the bench.

His time at Leinster stands in sharp contrast to his injury-ravaged spell with Munster. After joining the Limerick-based side in 2020, Snyman endured two ACL tears and managed only 20 appearances across four seasons.

In comparison, his 14 outings in just one campaign with Leinster highlight a remarkable upturn in both form and fitness.

Snyman becomes the second of Leinster’s marquee signings from last summer to renew his deal, following tighthead prop Rabah Slimani, who also confirmed his contract extension recently.
