Owen Farrell has opened up about his brief and injury-disrupted spell at Racing 92, insisting that he holds no regrets about his move to France.
The England international, who has now rejoined Saracens for the 2025–26 season, reflected honestly on his time abroad, which lasted just one season.
“I don’t regret going. I don’t regret doing it… Even though it was disappointing how much I played, and how fit I was when I did play at times, I still don’t regret doing it.”
Farrell admitted that things didn’t go as planned, both in terms of fitness and performance, but emphasised that the experience still had personal and professional value.
“I am obviously disappointed that it went the way it went, but I am glad we did it and thankful for the experience.”
The 32-year-old fly-half was hampered by injuries throughout the season, significantly reducing his impact in France’s Top 14.
He struggled to find consistent form and rhythm, something that had been central to his long-standing success with Saracens and England. Yet, rather than dwell on the frustration, Farrell stressed that the season taught him valuable lessons in resilience.
“It doesn’t mean it’s a negative. You come away from it with something, and I certainly have.”
Now back with Saracens on a two-year deal, Farrell is focused on moving forward. His return has been warmly welcomed by the club, where he won six Premiership titles and three European Cups and established himself as a leader and record scorer.
