Northampton Saints have confirmed that flanker Jamie Gibson has signed a short-term deal with the Gallagher Premiership club.

The 29-year-old will now play for the Franklin's Gardens based side for the remainder of the season with the Premiership competition set to resume from 14th August following the suspension due to the pandemic coronavirus.

Gibson was released from the contract last month but now has joined back with the Saints as an injury cover to Tom Wood after the latter is expected to be out of action for three months due to an injury.

Gibson started his career with London Irish in 2009 and moved to Leicester Tigers in 2013 before switching to Northampton Saints ahead of the 2015/16 season and since then has made 125 appearances for the club including 88 Premiership games.

The 6ft 5in flanker also had represented England Under 18, England Under 20 and England Saxons sides in the past.

Northampton Saints are positioned fourth in the Gallagher Premiership table with seven wins from 13 games and will face Wasps at Franklin's Gardens on 16th August when the tournament resumes.
