Wasps have confirmed that South Africa international Nizaam Carr will rejoin the club ahead of the 2021/22 season.

Carr started his professional rugby career with Western Province in 2011 with his Super Rugby debut for Stormers coming a year later.

His first association with Wasps came with a loan stint in 2017 before signing a permanent contract with the Ricoh Arena based club ahead of the 2018/19 season. During his time with Wasps, the 30-year-old has made 56 appearances with the club scoring 13 tries.

“I am delighted to be coming back to Wasps. I really enjoyed my time at the Club, and I can’t wait to play with my teammates in front of the brilliant Wasps fans again," he told the club's official website.

Carr made a switch to South Africa side Bulls in 2020 and was an integral part of the side that reached the final of the Rainbow Cup this season. He will join Wasps in August following his commitment with the Pretoria based club.

He was a member of the South Africa Under 20 team that competed in the 2011 IRB Junior World Championship and featured in five Tests for the Springboks between 2014 and 2016.

Wasps head coach Lee Blackett is delighted to have Carr returning back to the club.

“We have been looking to recruit a quality back-rower for a while and jumped at the opportunity to bring Nemo back to Wasps," he said.

“He was a very popular member of the squad on and off the pitch during his time at the Club previously and we all know the positive impact he can have on games. We can’t wait to see him play in Black and Gold once again.”

Wasps finished the 2020/21 season of the Gallagher Premiership at eighth place after managing nine wins from 22 games.
