Wasps have secured the signing of tighthead prop Pieter Scholtz ahead of the 2021/22 season.

Scholtz will head to Ricoh Arena at the end of his ongoing commitments with Scarlets after making eight appearances for the Welsh regional side this season.

The 27-year-old made his professional rugby debut with provincial side Golden Lions in 2015 and went on to play for Super Rugby side Lions in the 2016 season. He made a switch to Southern Kings in 2017 before joining Scarlets in 2020.

Wasps head coach Lee Blackett is delighted in obtaining the services of Scholtz.

“We are very happy to sign Pieter for next season," he told the club's official website.

“He is an impressive scrummager, who has performed to a high level in the PRO14 for Scarlets this season. We believe that he will be a strong addition to our group of props at the club.

“We are all looking forward to working with Pieter and seeing him play in a Wasps shirt.”

Meanwhile, Scholtz is looking forward to be part of Wasps next season.

“I am very excited to start this new journey with the club and put on the Wasps jersey," he said.

“I have been talking to the coaches and I am really looking forward to working with them and the other players next season."

Wasps are positioned seventh in the Gallagher Premiership table with nine wins from 21 games and will face Leicester Tigers in the final round on 12th June at Ricoh Arena.
