Munster rugby director Rassie Erasmus confirmed that the European Champions Cup game against Glasgow Warriors will take place on Saturday as per the original schedule.

With Munster head coach Anthony Foley's funeral set for Friday, Erasmus revealed that the team will gather at Thomond Park for the clash next day. The former Ireland captain died in Munster's team hotel on Sunday in Paris following which the European Champions Cup game against Racing 92 was postponed last weekend.

"We don't want to miss this opportunity for him," Erasmus said. "It's a tough choice. It's not easy either way, but we don't want to miss this opportunity."

The autopsy conducted on Foley revealed that his death was linked to a heart disorder which caused the lungs to build-up fluid and his funeral now will take place in his home town of Killaloe, Co Clare.

Foley has played over 200 games for Munster and has scored 195 points while he took over the coaching role of the club in 2014. Erasmus admitted that Foley has a special connection with the Thomond Park club and the players wanted to continue with the game on Saturday as a mark of respect for him.

Erasmus also urged the fans to gather in numbers for the Saturday's clash and back the home team.

"He would never want us to say that the game is secondary, it's just not the man he was, but it will be," he said.

"It's all about Anthony, now, and this weekend, and will be for a long time."

He added: "It's difficult. I know the players had so much respect for him that they are trying to get on with it , trying to do the job the way we think and know Anthony would want us to go on with it.

"That's what drives us and makes us committed to get a proper performance out there. You don't have to think of a lot of nonsense to say about him. You knew exactly where you stood with him," he said.

"He would do anything for his friends."
