Brumbies went on to secure the top spot in the Australian Conference as they trounced Sunwolves 19-42 in their Super Rugby encounter at Prince Chichibu Memorial Stadium on Friday.

Sunwolves got off to a fabulous start with Semisi Masirewa tapping the ball and feeding to Hosea Saumaki for the try in the opening minute and Hayden Parker slotted the conversion to make it 7-0.

The visitors replied back in the ninth minute when Peter Samu crashing in the corner that was improved by Christian Leali'ifano to level the scores and soon claimed the lead when Irae Simone dotted down in the 21st minute and Thomas Banks followed the suit in the 29th minute. Leali'ifano also kicked two more conversions to take the scoreline 7-21.

Masirewa helped Sunwolves pull back things just before the break with a 35th minute try as the teams went into the break with a 12-21 scoreline.

With Jamie Booth being the lone try scorer for the Japanese try in the second half, Brumbies with a hatrick from replacement Connal McInerney ensured they completed a resounding 23 point victory - their eighth in the tournament from 14 games.
