Scorecard

Adam Ashley-Cooper and Curtis Rona scored tries as Waratahs managed to hold off Rebels in a 15-20 win in their Super Rugby face-off at AAMI Park on Friday.

This is Waratahs' sixth win from 14 games as they are positioned third in the Australian Conference while Rebels hold the top position in the group.

A combination of Curtis Rona and Bernard Foley sent Adam Ashley Cooper over the line in the seventh minute. Conversion from Foley gave the visitors a 7-0 lead.

Quade Cooper led Rebels' response with an 11th-minute penalty goal but back to back three-pointers from Foley meant the teams went into the break with a 3-13 lead.

The home side were quick to get off the block with a converted try by Quade Cooper in the 49th minute but his efforts were cancelled out with Jack Maddocks sneaking past Reece Hodge to feed Rona for his side's second try as the gap between the two teams remained 10 points.

Marika Koroibete gave Rebels hope as his brilliance allowed Will Genia to sail past the line in the 59th minute. Cooper failed to add the conversion and with no further breakthrough, Rebels fell short by five points.
