Byron McGuigan scored a hat-trick while Denny Solomona scored a double as Sale Sharks crushed Gloucester 57-10 in their Aviva Premiership clash at AJ Bell Stadium on Friday.

Solomona (1') and McGuigan (15' and 32') were the try scorers in the first half for the home side while AJ MacGinty slotted two conversions and a penalty to take them to 22 points.

Gloucester's only points in the first half came through a penalty from Billy Burns as they trailed by 19 points at the end of the first half.

After restart, Gloucester suffered a setback when Billy Twelvetrees was sin-binned and Sale Sharks capitalised on the advantage as in-form Faf de Klerk (47'), Solomona (50'), James O'Connor (55'), Sam James (68') and McGuigan (72') also went past the line while MacGinty slotted four conversions and Will Cliff kicked two extras to complete a 47 point victory for Steve Diamond's men.

Sale Sharks are currently positioned fifth in the table while Gloucester slip to 10th.
