Edinburgh 10-7 Glasgow, Murrayfield Stadium
Scorecard

Edinburgh managed to hold off a late fightback from Glasgow as they edged their Scottish rival 10-7 during the 1872 Cup encounter at Murrayfield Stadium.

This is Edinburgh's third win from eight games as they move to fifth place in Conference B while Glasgow are at fifth position in Conference A.

Edinburgh enjoyed a period of sustained pressure following a knock-on from Ratu Tagive but they could not quite convert it into points.

Huw Jones applied pressure on the home side around the half-hour mark allowing Brandon Thomson to open the points but his penalty went wide as both the teams were unable to open their account in the opening half.

The trend continue in the third quarter as well with both the teams desperate for points before the deadlock finally came to an end in the 65th minute when Jaco van der Walt got Edinburgh off the mark with a penalty goal.

Edinburgh extended their lead in the 68th minute when Magnus Bradbury capitalised on a loose ball to dot down and van der Walt's conversion provided them a crucial 10-point lead.

A late Lewis Bean's try provided Glasgow a glimmer of hope but they could not quite go over the line on what would have been a dramatic victory.

The two teams will once again meet on Friday night for their rescheduled Round 9 fixture at Scotstoun Stadium.
