Waratahs 36-16 Western Force, Sydney

Waratahs brought an end to a four-game losing streak as they went past Western Force 36-16 in their Super Rugby Pacific clash in Sydney on Saturday.

Izaia Perese laid the foundation with tries on either half while Mark Nawaqanitawase Jake Gordon and Harry Johnson-Holmes also touched down for the hosts as they climb to the ninth position in the table while Western Force are at 11th.

A penalty kick from Ben Donaldson in the 9th minute started the proceedings for Waratahs before Jake Gordon sent an inside pass for Perese to touchdown in the 16th minute. Donaldson also followed with the conversion to extend their lead to 10-0.

Even though Waratahs dominated the opening exchanges, Force had a chance to open their account which Jake Strachan kicked a three-pointer but in the 26th minute they were down to 14 players temporarily after referee Angus Gardner sin-binned Jackson Pugh for collapsing a maul.

With the numerical advantage on their side, Waratahs extended their lead with Mark Nawaqanitawase scoring on the right wing after collecting an offload from Perese and shortly Gordon also followed the suit before Strachan kicked his second three pointer as the teams completed the opening half with a 22-6 scoreline.

Johnson-Holmes got the fourth try for Waratahs midway in the second half when he crashed over and Donaldson's conversion made it 29-6. Force were handed a lifeline as Waratahs replacement Will Harris was yellow carded at the start of the final quarter as Manasa Mataele and Zach Kibirige scored consolation tries for Force.

Nevertheless, Waratahs had the final say with Perese completing his second in the 78th minute to bring them back to the winning ways.
