Cameron Roigard scored a double as Hurricanes returned back to winning ways with a 34-17 victory in the fourth round of the Super Rugby Pacific at Sky Stadium on Friday.

Skipper Ardie Savea returned for Hurricanes after suspension as they opened their account with a 13th minute penalty goal. Nemani Nadolo provided a strong response from Waratahs with a touchdown in the 14th minute but the conversion went wide making it 3-5.

With Cam Roigard touching down in the 19th minute, Max Jorgensen and Naholo traded tries as the teams went into the break with a 17-12 scoreline.

Nevertheless, the home side raised the ante as two tries in five minutes from winger Kini Naholo and halfback Cam Roigard and another from veteran All Black hooker Dane Coles left the Waratahs playing catch-up from 22 points down

Two tries in five minutes from winger Kini Naholo and halfback Cam Roigard and another from veteran All Black hooker Dane Coles left the Waratahs playing catch-up from 22 points down.

Langi Gleeson bagged a consolation late try but it was Hurricanes, who went on to complete a 17-point victory.

Hurricanes now have three wins from four matches as they climb to the second place in the table while Waratahs are at seventh position.

"Look, I thought the effort in our first half was really up there. We probably weren't clinical enough around our exits, which was was disappointing," said Waratahs captain Jake Gordon.

"Then in the second half, much of the same.

"Our bench did a great job with two tries putting us back into the game, but definitely not clinical enough tonight."
